Meet Our Dog Training Team

As an AKC sanctioned club our dog training team consists of all volunteers that are members of the LBDTC. The trainers offer a wide-range of skills and experience using positive reinforcement techniques with your dog and you. They strongly encourage dog owners to implement our training motto: Practice, Praise, Patience = Performance.

Trainers

Ken has been a member of LBDTC for 11 years where he is a trainer/assistant for the Beginner/Advanced Obedience classes. He is a Training Committee Member,  Publicity Committee Chairperson, and is currently the Board Secretary.  Ken assists with LBDTC’s pet food drives and volunteers at numerous Rally, Agility and Obedience Trials. Ken has also been involved with the Women’s Animal Center for the past 17 years.

Robin has been raising Rottweilers for 33 years. Merlin is her 5th Rottweiler. Robin is the Co-Training Administrator and Instructor for LBDTC. She has 6 years of training experience with LBDTC where she specializes in Puppy Socialization, Basic Beginner/Advanced Obedience classes and has volunteered at numerous Agility and Obedience Trials.

Carol has been a member of LBDTC for 12 years where she is a trainer/assistant for the Beginner/Advanced Obedience classes. She is a Training Committee Member, Board Member, and Co-Training Administrator. Carol has also been involved with the Women’s Animal Center for the past 17 years. She has been involved with Novice Obedience, Nose Work, Rally and Tracking. Carol has volunteered at numerous Agility and Obedience Trials.

Judi is a long-time club member and has been training dogs for 25 years. Previously she trained at SDTC for 15 years and has attended workshops and seminars at Top Dog and K9Jym. Judi has many years’ experience in Conformation, Obedience, Tracking, Herding, and Barn Hunt. Her first Rottie was a Therapy dog. She has held many board positions at LBDTC and has volunteered at numerous dog trials where she has also been a Trial Chair.

Donna has been a member of LBDTC for 7 years and has spent 5 years teaching Rally. She is a CGC and Alliance Therapy Dog Evaluator. Donna has many years’ experience in AKC/UKC Conformation, Obedience and AKC/UKC/WCRL Rally Trials, Herding and Lure Coursing, Crisis Response, and enjoys taking Maverick for therapy work at hospitals. She has also spent one-year teaching at Cool Dog Gear and has volunteered at numerous Agility and Obedience Trials.

Claire-Amy has been a member of LBDTC for 5 years and has spent 2 years teaching Obedience and Rally. She has also trained at The Pet Campus and Up Front Dog Training Center. As an LBDTC member she has volunteered at the club’s Rally, Obedience, and Agility Trials and has assisted with the club’s pet food drives. Claire-Amy has also entered Rally matches and trials.

Kim is currently a trainer for the Obedience I/Obedience II and Introduction to Agility classes. Kim got her start at LBDTC completing obedience classes and obtaining CGC certifications for her dogs.

Kim’s love for animals began at an early age first in the show arena with her horses, then onto training both Standardbreds and Thoroughbreds in horse racing. Although her passion for horses continued, she began competing with her Labradors and Golden Retrievers in AKC confirmation and breed competition events, also winning the 1992 Golden Retriever Eastern Grand Futurity with her golden Bailey.

Kim has many years of experience working in both confirmation and obedience and is currently pursuing her love of agility competition with her Australian Labradoodle Cosmo. She received her licensure as a certified veterinary technician working in emergency veterinary medicine at the University of PA veterinary school and the VSEC clinic In Levittown, PA.

Kim’s approach to training both the handler and dog is through encouragement and positive reinforcement to help them achieve their training goals in a fun and exciting atmosphere.

Assistant Trainers

Diane has been a member of LBDTC for 15 years. She has spent 6 years teaching Rally,15 years teaching Beginners/Advanced Obedience, and recently has been working with Puppy Socialization. Diane has been involved in Therapy Work for 14 years at hospitals, schools, nursing homes, and libraries. She has entered many Rally trials and has been assisting with LBDTC pet food drives for many years.

Helen has been a member of LBDTC since 2012. She has been an assistant trainer for many years and has been vice president of the club for two years. Helen also assists with attendance records, certificates, and some photos.

Rookie trained at the club, and he and Helen have become a therapy team. They have visited schools, libraries, and nursing homes for the past 12 years.

Sandy has been a member of LBDTC for over two years. She has been training dogs since she was a teenager and earned a Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) with her first dog. She is involved as a volunteer with Kodi’s Club, a local Rottweiler rescue. She and her husband transport animals from ACCT to the rescue. She also does home visits for them, as well as fostering. Sandy returned to dog training after adopting two previous fosters. Both Emma and Odie earned their CGC through LBDTC. She is now involved with training her one Rottweiler, Odie for Rally competition, where he received his Rally Novice title. Sandy also has a new collie named Braxton who also earned his CGC at LBDTC and is currently training for Rally. He recently earned his Rally Novice title as well. Sandy will be starting Braxton in Therapy Dog training in the near future.

Tracie became a member of LBDTC in 2022. She has been taking classes with her GSD/Husky mix rescue, Jax who they rescued in July 2021. Tracie and Jax have trained at LBDTC in Beginners and Advanced Obedience, Intro to Agility, Attention, and Rally. They have also taken gym classes and private sessions outside of the club. Jax’s titles include: CGC, FITB, FITS (AKC FIT DOG – bronze and silver (currently working toward gold). Tracie is an assistant trainer for both Beginners and Advanced Obedience.

Tracie has opened her heart and her home to GSD or GSD/Husky mixes for the last 25 years and supports rescue organizations that work with GSDs. Tracie and Jax enjoy exploring the outdoors and strolling through the neighborhood. And last but not least, Jax loves it when his family takes him out to dinner at local eateries and breweries.
