Obedience/Rally Trials

Rally is an AKC sanctioned event that is performed as a team sport between your dog and you as the performing team. The goal is to navigate through a course of 10 – 20 different signs displaying commands. Beginning levels are done on-leash while advanced levels are performed off-leash. Rally is an event that showcases teamwork and skills.

An AKC Obedience Trial will take your dog and you to a beginning level of competition and eventually to advanced levels of competition. Having learned basic obedience commands, you will advance through skills such as walking on-off leash in a variety of patterns, retrieving objects, jumping over obstacles, and demonstrate your dog’s ability to stay in place for a prolonged period of time. Obedience competition and training is the best way to establish good communication between your dog and you.

Agility Trials

Agility is a fun and exciting sport that is played by humans and dogs of all sizes, abilities and breeds. It is an excellent source of exercise and is enjoyable to both members of the “team”. There are competitive trials that are both local and countrywide and/or classes to take just to get you and your furry friend out and off the couch. You and your dog go at your own pace as the dog learns to navigate obstacles, eventually putting those obstacles together in a course. It is enjoyable and definitely worth a try.

LBDTC held their first official annual outdoor trials in May of 2000 at the Middletown Grange in Wrightstown Pa. In 2010 it moved to Shady Brook Farm and in 2015 it was held at the Mercer County Equestrian Center in Pennington, NJ. 2018 saw the club move the trial indoors to K9 Gym in Colmar, Pa. Our current site for the trial in 2020 is United Dog LLC in Huntingdon Valley, PA. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about Agility. Our members are always happy to share their knowledge and experience in this wonderful sport.
