Obedience Classes - (one dog per family per class)

AKC Star Puppy

Puppy class is the first step to a lifetime of good dog manners, socialization and education. Owners will have fun with their puppy as they are being taught basic commands on a puppy level. Any problems you may have with your puppy such as housebreaking, walking on a leash, etc. will be addressed. Everything is taught on a puppy level with the focus being upbeat and having fun with your puppy. Puppies will have time to play with other puppies as they prepare to be awarded AKC’s STAR Puppy certification.

  • Dog age: 12–20 weeks
  • Class size: maximum of 6 dogs
  • Cost: Non-member $150.00, Member $105.00 (8 sessions, once per week)
  • Date/time: Thursdays from 6:15pm to 7:15pm From September 17th through November 5th
  • Requirements:
    1. Complete the online registration and payment process including acknowledging you read and agreed to the Liability Waiver Agreement.
    2. Immunization records including 2 Distemper Combinations must be submitted via email in order to complete the registration process.

 Obedience I (Beginners)

Focusing on five basic behaviors, the Obedience I Class (Beginners) helps owners and dogs achieve success through structured activities and positive dog training methods. Trainers also help owners understand how to use the basic commands at home to turn that unruly bundle of joy into a well-behaved family pet.

 Obedience I Class (Beginners)

  • Class size: maximum of 6 dogs
  • Cost: Non-member $150.00, Member $105.00 (8 sessions, once per week)
  • Date/time: (2 sessions) Tuesdays 6:15pm to 7:15pm or Wednesdays 6:15PM to 7:15PM
  • The first class is an orientation class. Please do not bring your dog to this class.
  • Requirements:
    1. Complete the online registration and payment process including acknowledging you read and agreed to the Liability Waiver Agreement.
    2. Immunization records including Distemper, Rabies (if 6 months or older), and Bordetella must be submitted via email in order to complete the registration process. Please note Bordetella is not a routine vaccine but is required for this class.

 Obedience II (Advanced)

Your dog can become a Canine Good Citizen! The Obedience II Class (Advanced) reinforces the behaviors learned in the prerequisite, Obedience I Class (Beginners), along with teaching new behaviors and ends with the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen test to certify that your dog is ready for the world!

 Obedience II Class (Advanced: with CGC Evaluation)

  • Class size: maximum of 6 dogs
  • Cost: Non-member $150.00, Member $105.00 (8 sessions, once per week)
  • Date/time: (2 sessions) Tuesdays 7:30pm to 8:30pm, Wednesdays 7:30pm to 8:30PM
  • Requirements:

Obedience III & More (CGC Required)

Ready to take your training to the next level? If you and your dog have earned your Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title and are looking for a new challenge, this class is for you.

Obedience III & More

Building on your dog’s existing obedience skills, you’ll work on:

  • Advanced skills needed for the Canine Good Citizen Advanced (CGCA) title
  • Controlled off-leash exercises
  • Improved focus and attention
  • Fun trick training

This class emphasizes teamwork, confidence, and strengthening the bond between you and your dog in a supportive, enjoyable environment.

Class Size: Maximum of 6 dogs

Cost:

  • Non-Members: $150.00
  • Members: $105.00
    (8 weekly sessions)

Schedule:
Thursdays, 7:30 PM – 8:30 PM
September 17 through November 5

Requirements

  1. Complete the online registration and payment process, including acknowledgment of the Liability Waiver Agreement.
  2. Submit proof of current Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccinations by email or mail prior to the first class. Please note that Bordetella, while not part of the routine vaccination schedule, is required for participation.

Robin Kinley

Robin has been raising Rottweilers for 37 years, and Buck is her sixth Rottweiler. She serves as the Training Director and an instructor for Lower Bucks Dog Training Club (LBDTC). With more than 10 years of training experience at LBDTC, Robin teaches Puppy Socialization, Beginner, Advanced Beginner, and Advanced Obedience classes. She has also volunteered at numerous Agility and Obedience Trials.

Attention

This class begins to prepare your dog for any level of obedience training and is suitable for any level of competition. Exercises introduced are those needed to keep your dog’s attention focused on you no matter the circumstances. Attention is crucial in competitive sports.

Attention Class

  • Class size: maximum of 6 dogs
  • Cost: Non-member $75.00, Member $55.00 (4 sessions, once per week)
  • Date/time: Mondays from 7:30pm to 8:30pm
  • Requirements:

Rally Classes

Now that you have passed your CGC evaluation, additional training opportunities are available. LBDTC trainers will encourage you to explore all your options. Rally training is one such option. Rally training promotes sportsmanship and demonstrates the skills you and your dog have been using in your home, public places, and around other dogs.

Rally Novice/Advanced

Rally Novice training is where the dogs and handlers become teammates/partners. You will have the opportunity to have fun at the Novice level which can lead to earning a Rally Novice title (RN). In Rally Novice all exercises are performed on leash and a series of 10-15 Rally signs are incorporated in any given course.

Advanced training continues to prepare dogs and their handlers for the trial ring while working at a higher level. Dogs are now off leash. Rally courses consist of 12-17 signs and one jump is included.

The focus level of this class will vary dependent upon the level and skills of the clients/dogs participating in the class.

Rally Novice/Advanced Class (CGC required)

  • Class size: maximum of 5 dogs
  • Cost: Non-member $120.00, Member $84.00 (6 sessions, once per week)
  • Date/time: Mondays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm September 14th through October 26th
  • This class will feature Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced levels of training
  • Requirements:

Foundation Skills for Competition Rally

This class teaches competition heelwork and other behaviors related to AKC Competition Rally. It focuses on attention, stationary and moving exercises, hind end awareness, all 3 jumps used as well as stays. You will learn more advanced skills while building a solid relationship with you and your dog. Any dog can benefit from these skills, whether they intend to compete or not. These skills also have great cross-over to other sports, including agility. Dogs signing up for this class should know the basics: Sit, Down, Come, and Stay. We will continue to build on these skills throughout the weeks.

In order to give everyone the best chance of success, we cannot accept dogs with aggression issues in this class.

Foundation Skills for Competition Rally (CGC required)

  • Class size: maximum of 4 dogs
  • Cost: Non-member $135.00, Member $95.00 (7 sessions, once per week)
  • Date/time: Wednesdays from 6:00pm to 7:00pm
  • This class will teach competition heelwork and other behaviors related to AKC Competition Rally.
  • Requirements:

Introduction to Agility

This class gives your dog the opportunity to think and reason. We offer the correct, positive way to learn agility equipment and prepare your dog for future agility course work. Learn the equipment and fundamentals in a quiet, closed setting for a solid foundation and best results.

  • Class size: must have 3 dogs to hold class.
  • Cost: Non-member $120.00, Member $84.00 (6 sessions, once per week)

Introduction to Nose-Work/Scent-Work

This introductory class teaches the foundation skills needed to begin searching for hidden odors while improving confidence, focus, and the bond between dog and handler. Whether you’re looking for a fun new activity or considering future competition, this class is a great place to start.
